PolyCon XIX: A Gaming Odyssey![]() |

We have the privilege of telling you all about PolyCon XIX
, the premier
gaming convention for the Central Coast of California for the past
sixteen years. Approximately 250 gamers are expected to flood the campus
of the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo June
29 to July 1, 2001.
You are invited to attend as a dealer, a game sponsor, or in
whatever capacity you choose. We will feature a live-action roleplaying game which will run from Friday evening until Sunday morning, but you might still have time for gaming if you're smart. There will also be a round-the-clock Magic Pit to allow duels at any time. The RPGA will also be in attendance running their Living Greyhawk Dungeons & Dragons campaign. You can be a dealer at the convention and thus have the right to sell to attendees. Dealers will be assigned space on a first come, first served basis. Because of space considerations, we will be using single dorm rooms for each dealer. The space is 13 feet by 13 feet and can contain up to two tables. This has worked well in the past, allowing flexible hours and tighter security. Dealer costs are only $80 and grants you two admissions into the convention. This year we are proud to announce the return of our seminars. Seminars will last approximately one hour. Topics should be related in some way to gaming or the industry and allow time for questions. If you would like your seminar to be included in the convention booklet, please send us a brief description of the seminar and the speaker by April 15. If your seminar requires any special audiovisual equipment, be sure to let us know when you send us the information. All seminar participants will receive a refund of $10 per seminar up to their registration fee, provided they register the seminar by May 15. Finally you can run or sponsor tournaments. Tournaments must be run by a GM who has a full working knowledge of the game. The game should be set up for elimination play, if possible. Prizes worth ten dollars or more, depending on the difficulty of the game, should be given to the winners. For tournaments sponsored by PolyCon, we will use prizes or "dealer dollars" as payment. Dealer dollars can only be used at the shops in our dealer alley and dealers will be reimbursed dollar for dollar at the end of the convention. If you would like to sponsor a tournament but can't attend the convention, we will try to find a qualified GM. Let us know by May 15. That should give us enough time to procure someone knowledgable in the game system. Our convention booklet will feature game descriptions and time schedules. Advertising space is still available in both our preregistration booklet and our convention booklet. Trade arrangements can also be made for this space. If you have any interest in participating in our event, feel free to contact me personally by phone at (805) 549-0267 or through email at jparzane@polycon.punk.net. Thank you,
