Message from the Conman - Eric Aldrich PolyCon XVI happened over June 26 to 28 in the Trinity dormitory at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Forty-eight hours of solid gaming left everybody exhausted, but a lot of fun was had. The Con was a smashing success by any measurement. The weather for once cooperated by not sending temperatures into the 100s. The open gaming room was busy around-the-clock and games were scheduled (and actually run!) for the duration of the con. The big story was attendance 1 nearly 200 gamers stuffed Trinity dorm for the duration of the convention. This led to a lot of full sections and some very happy dealers. Despite the high turnout, there was easily enough food at the Saturday evening barbecue 1 so much so that we had a Sunday brunch buffet with the leftovers! This year's Live Action Role-Play ended with Rob Berryhill being crowned king and then defending his crown against almost all of the rest of the players in the LARP. Congratulations Rob! The AD&D tournament was also a smashing success with all of the sections filled but one. Our poor tourneymaster, Joe Parzanese, who also wrote the tournament, managed a whopping 15 minutes of sleep over the three days and two nights his tournament ran. TSR's Role-Playing Game Association held a special session of the their Living City campaign at the con that attracted almost 50 people to the event from all over the state. Thanks to everyone who attended for making this the best PolyCon in recent history. Hope to see you all at PolyCon XVII, June 25-27, 1999.
