A 20th Anniversary Celebration
Back in 1983, a new gaming convention appeared in California. PolyCon I,
held on Cal Poly campus, was the new gamer in town. Since then, despite
changing leadership, different venues, and new gaming systems PolyCon is
still here. Now one of the oldest conventions in the state, PolyCon
continues to go strong and get better every year. And now after all this
time, our little dragon mascot turns 20.
This year we are proud to invite you to PolyCon XX - Our 20th Anniversary
Celebration, currently scheduled for June 28,29, and 30th, 2002. As in
the past we are happy to present you the events
that you love and expect.
For the third year in a row, our DnD tournament will be Dungeon Mastered
by the exceptional Jeff Hatch. As usual, miniature players will be
greeted by the charming smile of Cody Hudson in the Warhammer
Tournaments. Victor Esposito will again dazzle you at our
complementary Saturday BBQ with his impressive BBQing skills on his brand
new grill (with over 600 square inches of BBQing space). Dealers are
already lining up to be in our Dealer Alley and we're ready to give you
both old favorites and new surprises to shop in. Add to that an
impressive list of games such as our Main Con LARP, American Poly Grease,
and other events such as our auction, seminars, and Anime Room, and you
have a convention just ready for you to take a dice to it.
We're doing everything we can to make this year a celebration of our
twenty years of history. And we're not going to forget about that
history. As a special part of our celebration, we're inviting all our
past and current staff to a special Cake and Cider Social on Friday night
of the convention from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM where both old and new
PolyConners can mingle and celebrate our 20th year. If you are a PolyCon
Alumni, we'd love to have you in attendance.
Also expect to see events from past conventions, old friends, historical
art, special T-Shirts, commemorative PolyCon D20s and other items as we
make this year the celebration that it truly is. Finally, expect to see
the 1st ever PolyCon Independent Game Design Prize, a grant for the best
new Independent Game.
How can I help out and join in on the celebration? you ask. Well as
usual, we still need more games, more events, more dealers, and more staff
than ever before. We'd love to have you attend. We'd love to hear your
ideas for this celebration. Come join us as we make PolyCon 20 a Critical
Hit!
