1/15 - 1/18 Martin Luther King Weekend 2010!
Super Winter Mini over Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend (1/15 - 1/18) will
be bigger than ever this year. We are working hard to bring a lot of
extra, special events in to bring out your gaming imagination. We have
reserved many gaming spaces that include the University Craft Center,
Mustang Lanes, Chumash, and other, more intimate spaces for RPGs.
First, allow me to outline our logistical information. Friday night will
be Game Theory as usual in Buildings 8 and 36 from 5:00 to 10:00 pm.
Saturday and Sunday we will be gaming in the UU from 10:00 am until 11:00
pm. Sign in at Chumash Auditorium. Monday the games will continue back at
Building 8 from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Cost is $10.00 for Saturday or
Sunday, $15 for the weekend. Free admission for a day per event you run.
(Run two events, get in Free! One event gets you in for $10.)
Here's a partial listing of some of our events: For minis players we have
War Machine, Blood Bowl, and Open 40k Friday night. Saturday will be a
1750 pt 40k Tourney with special scenarios then some workshops in casting
and terrain building. Sunday we will be hosting a big Apocalypse battle
(<2000 pts/person please), WH Fantasy Tourney and Space Hulk. Monday we
have open 40k and a grand Dungeon Bowl extravaganza. For more information
contact Chris Smith
For Magic players we will host a Peasant Tourney Friday night. Saturday we
will have a repack draft of Invasion, a constructed Plane Chase Vintage
Tourney, a Standard Type II tourney, and a Zendikar Draft. Sunday we break
into some more eclectic events like Emperor, 2 Headed Giant, Highlander,
and even an Unhinged/Unglued repack draft. On Monday we will have a
Ticket Tourney where you earn points for doing "fun things" as well as
winning the round. For example, you get a ticket for giving your opponent
10 hippogriffs, doppelgangering a Vesuvan Doppelganger, or for killing
someone with a Door to Nowhere. For more information on Magic Events,
contact Blaed Deuel
Some of our Grand Events include a billiards obstacle course, Life Size
Robo Rally, Ginormous Settlers of Catan, Pygmy, Cannon Bowl the RPG (a
Pirate RPG with bowling as the randomizer), Chainmail dice bag workshops,
Whack-a-Knight, and of course Role Playing Games of all sorts. Many of
our events will have PRIZES!
So make plans to join us for this Gigantic "mini con" I guess we will just
have to start calling it our Winter Con and get ready to try something
new, see old friends, play special editions of old favorites, and have
lots of fun!
